THE COLLECTION

I like how brands such as Realisation Par have names for each of their garments, rather than just a description of the product. For my own collection, I could name each of the jumpers, possibly after something they are inspired by. I could include the name of the jumpers next to their image in my look book.

IDEAS :

  1. Could be ‘The striped one’ or ‘the … something…’
  2. The tote bag
  3. The weave
  4. The chunky one
  5. The messy one
  6. The fair isle one
  7. The red one
  8. The bright one

TO DO:

  1. Finish guidelines – print / digital advertising, social media, blog.
  2. Add backgrounds/ texture into brand outlines first pages
  3. Scan brown paper bag notes
  4. Intended shoot collage / illustrations
  5. Finish look book
  6. Press release
  7. Digital advertisement – Brewdog example

PHOTOSHOOT

  • Due the current circumstances and not being able to achieve my intended shoot outcomes, I have started to think about creative photoshoot ideas for my brand which are achievable whilst having limited models and facilities.
  • I plan to take simple, still life images of my jumpers/ products hanging off the back of a chair/ in the garden or in the house with good lighting. I am also going to experiment with taking images in the garden on one of my family members. Although this isn’t ideal and not what I originally intended, I am going to try and be creative with my environment, focusing on bright colours and interesting objects, whilst trying to create a bold, punk inspired aesthetic. I am going to start creating mood boards with sketches and rough notes to try and generate some ideas.
  • Shoot could be inspired by books/journals/poetry that I have read in CoP3
  • Could be images from Extinction Rebellion? – bold reds ect
  • Could be quotes about punk DIY – messy, unrefined aesthetic- photoshoot could also be done in this style
  • Could be Greta Thunberg quote
  • Or inspired by punk record covers? Colours and aesthetic – photoshoot could be in vinyl room with plants/ bright flowers/ vinyls/ bright coloured images in the back? – This would be achievable given the circumstances
  • Need to start researching how fashion photographers are being creative whilst in isolation to gain more inspiration for my shoots
  • Wool in the back of shoot
  • Cutting out image and putting on different background
  • Text onto imagery
  • Could be bold, bright image of jumper with blurred background
  • HOW CAN I CREATE COLOUR IN ROOM/ IN NATURE ?
  • Distorted? – using fish eye lens
  • Could be far away shot with good landscape view – moving shot?
  • Could be holding one of the other jumpers?
  • Think about objects that can be in the shot – can be held – e.g books/ vinyl

UPDATED PLAN

  1. Design ideas board (add colour inspiration / concept onto this instead of final garment boards)
  2. Final line up (add samples to top of sheet) X
  3. Design prototypes with lots of detailed samples X
  4. Initial designs
  5. Concept boards for x2 distinct photoshoots
  6. Detailed concept/ story board of ideas for look book
  7. Illustrations of garments/ products
  8. Multi platform brand communication- Instagram/ website/ print advert/ packaging/ swing tag design/ press release
  9. Branding

SOURCING WOOL FOR FINAL JUMPERS

After researching about sustainable wool, I visited Fred Aldous to get materials for the making of my final products. Although Wool and the Gang is quite expensive, the jumpers will look and feel the quality which I want to achieve with my brand. I may need to go back to get more wool once I have started to knit and judged how much I will need. I have made notes of prices so that I can work out my costings at a later date.
