MATERIALS FOR FINAL GARMENTS

All the materials/ wool for my final garments will be sustainably sourced, including merino wool, 100% cotton and recycled/ leftover bits of fabric, scraps from previous projects, christmas decorations and plastic bags.

After researching sustainable wools, I decided jumpers which will have a chunky effect will be made from ‘Wool and the Gang’ which is sustainably made from materials including up-cycled t-shirt scraps, waste fibres and 100% wool. I think this is the best option as the brand offers a wide range of bright colours without being made from poor quality, unsustainable acrylic wool.

  • ‘New Wave Yarn’ – made from cotton and 3 up-cycled plastic bottles
  • ‘Tina Tape Yarn’ – 100% vegan, uses no harmful chemicals and saves water
  • ‘Super Trooper Wool’- made of 100% Merino Wool

The brand is sold at Fred Aldous/ Abakan- I am going to try and go to Abakan as there is 20% off on Fridays.

Merino wool will be used for weaving to add texture, which is biodegradable and and renewable. The wool is cold dyed and uses low water usage.
